Although many people are dissuaded from accomplishing their weight loss goals due to the perceived difficulty of dieting and exercise, there are some people who are unable to accomplish their goals strictly due to monetary concerns. Dieting can be expensive if you do not know do it properly, as there are many diet product manufacturers out there who are all too happy to overcharge for their products, pricing frugal individuals out of the market. A frugal diet aims to adjust for this, providing weight loss for anyone, regardless of your budget.
Instructions
1. Comb the newspapers for deals every week looking for specials on the products that you require. The items you will be shopping for are lean meats, fruits, vegetables, grains, and healthy fat sources like oils, nuts, and seeds, so keep your eyes open for any specials. You do not need to resort to specialty diet products to lose weight--all you have to do is keep your diet as natural as possible through consumption of the aforementioned food groups. Simply buy whatever type of item is cheapest from each category each week, switching as necessary to take advantage of special offers.
2. Buy in bulk and get in the habit of freezing food to preserve it for longer. For example, if there is a particularly good special on low-fat beef, purchase more than you will need for the week and freeze the remainder so that you can avoid buying meat again next week at a higher price. When attempting to estimate the amount of food that you will require, remember that you will be eating less (you are dieting, after all), so taking that into consideration while shopping should lower your grocery bill even further.
3. Rely upon cheap staple items when times are particularly tight. Whole grain bread and natural peanut butter can provide you with fairly inexpensive carbohydrates and fat, just as canned tuna and eggs can provide you with fairly inexpensive sources of protein. Remember that learning to overcome your reluctance to consuming bland food is the key to frugal dieting, so retrain your taste buds to grow used to the less flavorful alternatives of more expensive foods to gain another edge in your repertoire as a frugal dieter.
