Hard Boil A Chicken Egg

Eggs are an excellent source of protein.

Boiling eggs may seem like a lesson in trial and error. But there is a method to hardboiling the perfect chicken egg. Whether it's for the Easter season or for a new deviled eggs recipe, you will be able to successfully boil an egg with no more green around the yolk, or worrying that the yolk will be runny when you give it that first crack. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Instructions

1. Place eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a medium saucepan. Pour cold tap water into the saucepan; the eggs need to be completely covered to ensure proper cooking.

2. Turn your stove to high heat and bring the water to a boil.

3. Remove from heat and cover the saucepan.

4. Leave eggs covered in the hot water 12 minutes if using medium eggs, 15 minutes if using large eggs and 18 minutes if using extra large eggs.

5. Remove eggs from the saucepan and put into a bowl. In order to prevent green discoloration around the egg yolk, pour cold water into the bowl. The eggs should be immersed in the cold water. Drain and add more cold water if necessary until the eggs are completely cooled.

6. Crack, peel and enjoy.
