Diesel pickups are compatible with Biodiesel.
Biodiesel is an alternative diesel fuel made out of natural and organic oils such as vegetable and animal fat. It can be blended with regular diesel fuel in common grades such as B5 or B20, or can be manufactured as pure biodiesel and marketed as grade B100. The B5 and B20 grade are compatible with virtually every pickup truck manufacturer without doing any engine modification, while the B100 grade is compatible with most commercial and industrial diesel engines.
Instructions
1. Check your diesel pickup truck fuel requirements. For American pickups, B5 diesel fuel is approved for all Chrysler pickups, which includes the Dodge brand. Ford approves of B20 diesel fuel in all engines made for the 2011 model year and newer, while B5 is approved for all other diesel engines before this time. General Motors, which includes the Chevrolet and GMC brand, approves of B20 diesel for 2011 and newer, while B5 is approved for all diesel engines made before this date.
2. Pull into any gasoline/diesel service station, and identify which type of biodiesel they carry.
3. Fill up the fuel tank with the correct blend of biodiesel which is supported and approved by the pickup manufacturer.
