Cleaning Solution For Selfcleaning A Carpet

Make a homemade carpet cleaning solution to self-clean your carpet.


Carpet will get dirty over time. Dirt, dust and other debris are tracked onto the carpeting and leave unsightly spots. Whether you need to spot clean your carpet, or you want to clean the entire surface area, there is no need to call in a professional carpet cleaning service. You can make your own solution for self-cleaning your carpet with common household ingredients. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


Salt, Borax and Vinegar Carpet Cleaner


1. Pour equal parts vinegar, borax powder and salt into a bucket. Use a long-handled spoon to stir the ingredients until a paste forms.


2. Dip a scrub brush into the paste and scrub it onto the carpet. If you are cleaning a large area, use long-handled scrub brush so you don't have to bend down to scrub.


3. Let the paste sit on the carpet for about three hours. Vacuum up the dried paste.


Eucalyptus and Vinegar Carpet Cleaner


4. Pour 2 tsp. eucalyptus oil and 2 tsp. of glycerin into an empty spray bottle. Add 2 Tbsp. each of white vinegar, baking soda and denatured alcohol. Secure the lid on the bottle and shake it lightly.


5. Spray the mixture onto the entire carpet. Use a long-handled scrub brush to scrub the solution into the carpet.


6. Let the mixture dry for a few hours, then vacuum up the carpet to remove any residue.


Spot Cleaning Foam


7. Pour 1/4 cup of vegetable oil-based liquid soap into a large bowl. Add 3 tbsp. of warm water.


8. Mix the ingredients with an egg beater until a foam forms. Scrub the affected areas of the carpet with a scrub brush and the foam.


9. Rinse the carpet with a rag and plenty of water to remove any soap residue.
