Rare Nintendo Nes Games

The original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) features well-known titles such as "Donkey Kong" and the "Super Mario Bros." games, but it is also home to rare games that many have not played. Many of the rare games for the NES have become hard to find because of their limited production, while others simply do not appear to be in circulation as frequently anymore.

Adventure Games

The Nintendo Entertainment System boasts a number of adventure games, and some of them have proved to be rare. The action adventure title "Cheetahmen II" features three crime fighters that look like cheetahs. The game has sold for as much as $500. The adventure game "Little Samson" has sold for $200, while the underwater adventure game "Bubble Bobble 2" has been sold for up to $340. "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," a game based on the film of the same name, is not as rare as other adventure titles, but it still sells for around $10.

Television Show Games

Some of the rare games released for the Nintendo Entertainment System are based on popular television shows. The 1993 game "Duck Tales 2" is based on the "Duck Tales" show and has sold for as much as $130. A game based on the Hanna Barbara television show "The Flintstones" called "The Flintstones: The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak" was made exclusively for the NES and has sold for as much as $250. Fewer copies of these games are in circulation because they were released after more graphically advanced systems had already hit the market.

Combination Games

The very rarest of NES games are those that package multiple titles or events into one cartridge. Some of these games, such as "1990 Nintendo World Championships" and "1991 Nintendo Campus Challenge" were not sold and appeared only at special events. "World Championships" was made in two versions: Gold and Silver. The Gold version has sold for as much as $21,000, while the Silver version has topped out at just over $6,000. A sports game that combines multiple events called "Stadium Events" has been sold for as much $41,300. "Stadium Events" was recalled directly after its release, thus making it hard to locate.
