Make A Mushroom Swiss Burgerrecipe

Mushroom Swiss Burger

Many restaurants and fast food chains such as McDonalds has their own version of swiss mushroom burgers. Now you can make your own whenever you get the craving.

Mushroom Swiss burgers do tend to be higher in calories and fat but you can easily lower the calories and fat by using leaner ground beef or ground turkey. Just don't go too lean or the meat will be very dry.

Use light swiss cheese from the deli and ask them to slice it thin. For sauteing you can use a little less butter or even some of the healthier butter blends on the market such as Smart Balance brand. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Place turkey burgers or hamburgers in a large skillet to pan fry or cook on the grill until cooked through. Add a slice of swiss cheese and cover for a few minutes while the cheese melts.

2. While the burgers are cooking, add butter to a medium nonstick skillet and melt on medium low. Drain the liquid from the canned mushrooms and add to the pan along with a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Saute, stirring occasionally until heated through.

3. Assemble each mushroom swiss burger by placing on a bun and topping with a spoonful of sauteed mushrooms. Top with various toppings such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, mustard, mayo and relish.
