Whipped shea butter can be used to moisturize skin and hair.
Shea butter has healing, protective and moisturizing qualities for skin and hair. Organic, unrefined shea butter is the most beneficial kind because none of its nutrients have been lost during processing. All of its benefits are present in its raw form, but it is quite firm and can be difficult to work with. Fortunately, whipping organic shea butter with a carrier oil makes it light, fluffy and smooth so it will be much easier and more pleasurable to use. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Melt 1/4 pound of shea butter in a double boiler until all of the chunks have disappeared. Remove it from the heat as quickly as possible to avoid cooking away nutrients.
2. Put the melted shea butter into a large mixing bowl, along with 2 tbsp. of avocado oil and 1/4 ounce of essential oil (optional).
3. Whip the mixture using an electric hand mixer set on the lowest setting. Whip until the mixture is cool and fluffy, taking short breaks as necessary. When done, it should have the consistency of firm whipped cream.
4. Store the whipped shea butter in an airtight container. Keep it out of sunlight to help maintain its nutritive qualities.
