Why Use Palm Oil In Food

Palm oil comes from trees grown in tropical areas of the world. Palm oil has many health benefits, and is a sustainable environmentally friendly oil.

Trans Fat Free

Palm oil is a good alternative for cooking, because it is trans fat free. Trans fats elevate the bad LDL cholesterol in the body and actually lowers the good HDL cholesterol.

Great for Baking

Because palm oil is semi-solid at room temperature, it is perfect for baking pie crusts, cookies, as well as other baked goods. It is also good for sautéing, and frying.

Antioxidant Properties

Palm oil, when unrefined, is a good source of antioxidants, because it contains vitamin A carotenoids, as well as vitamin E compounds.

Cancer Fighting Agents

According to the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Western Ontario, tocotrienols, part of the vitamin E compound, found in palm oil contain cancer fighting agents, that even benefit those suffering from breast cancer.

Environmentally Friendly

Purchasing sustainable palm oil can help stop the deforestation of the tropical rainforests. There are many companies working in partnership with local growers that are building communities, as well as protecting the environment.
