1. Locate the "Sell by" date on your carton of eggs. Look on the sides of the carton and the bottom of the carton for the date. The location of the "Sell by" date varies with egg brands, but all the egg brands do carry this information.
2. Place the eggs in the refrigerator immediately when you get home. Do not allow the eggs to get warm by sitting on the counter or in your car for a long period of time. Allowing the eggs to get warm gives germs a chance to develop faster, according to Business Week.
