Draw A Cow Eating Grass

Cows have been found in art for thousands of years.

Drawing and sketching shapes and figures helps develop and improve hand and eye coordination, as well as your art skills. One simple sketch to create is a cow eating grass. Basic cow drawings can be made by combining a variety of simple shapes. The grass is also easy to draw. You can sketch a cow eating grass using colored pencils, pens, regular pencils, crayons or any other thin-tipped drawing device.

Instructions

1. Draw a large oval for the body of the cow, and add a rounded rectangle on the front bottom of the body (the neck), so that the neck of the cow faces the ground.

2. Sketch two ovals onto the neck of the cow. Intersect each oval with the neck of the cow, on both rounded corners that are closest to the ground. These ovals will be used for the head and the nose.

3. Add an elongated rectangle to the front bottom of the cow's body to create a front leg for the cow. Draw a shape (intersecting with the back bottom of the cow's body) that resembles an upside-down teardrop, with the large portion of the shape acting as the cow's hind quarters. On the pointed end of the tear drop, add an elongated rectangle for a back leg for the cow. On the bottom of both elongated rectangles, draw hooves for the cow.

4. Draw the cow's other two legs by adding two more elongated rectangles to the cow's body. Place one of them in front of the back leg, and one in front of the front leg. Draw a tail on the backside of the cow's body.

5. Add two eyes to the top circle that you drew on the cow's neck. Use circles for the eyes, and color in small circles inside the eyes for the cow's pupils. Add two small horns to the top of the head by drawing small triangles.

6. Draw a happy face on the bottom circle that you added to the cow's neck. Use two small circles at the top of the circle, and add a smile to the bottom. This will give the appearance of the cow's nostrils and mouth.

7. Sketch the grass underneath the cow and the cow's mouth. Use small, overlapping triangles, and color them in green. This will make it seem as if the cow is grazing on the grass.
