Thanksgiving may only come once a year, but stuffing is a good alternative to starchy vegetables all year long. Making it without a turkey may seem odd, but stuffing can be baked in a casserole dish as easily as it can be baked inside a turkey. In fact, baking the stuffing in a casserole dish helps you clean up faster and lets you store the leftover stuffing in the dish it was baked in. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
Cook Stuffing in a Casserole Dish
1. If the stuffing is the only dish that will be in the oven, then set the oven at 350-degrees Fahrenheit (177-degrees Celsius) and allow it preheat to the correct temperature.
2. Butter the bottom and sides of the casserole dish thoroughly.
3. Blend the prepared ingredients for your favorite stuffing in a mixing bowl.
4. Spoon the stuffing into the casserole dish.
If your stuffing recipe contains raw eggs, avoid cross contamination. Do not use this spoon or the mixing bowl again until it has been washed thoroughly.
5. If you are going to use the stuffing immediately, place the uncovered dish in the oven for 45 to 60 minutes. If not, place the lid on the dish and move it to the refrigerator immediately. It will keep for up to 2 days.
