Make An Ark Out Of Food

Turn a watermelon into an ark filled with delicious fresh fruit.

Professional chefs know that presentation is as important as taste itself. An ark made from fresh fruit is visually appealing and delicious. Ideal for themed parties, including baby showers or birthdays, the watermelon-based ark is simple and elegant. With a watermelon shell, the ark can be used as a table centerpiece during the event. Store the fruit in the refrigerator until showtime to keep the fruit fresh. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Lay the watermelon on its longest side. Cut a thin slice to flatten the end. Set the flattened surface down against the work surface. Cut off the top third of the watermelon and set it aside.

2. Scoop away the inside of the watermelon using a melon baller. Place the removed fruit into a bowl and set it aside. Drain any juice from the watermelon shell.

3. Fill the hollow ark with the balled melon and other cleaned and sliced fruit.

4. Replace the lid and store in the refrigerator. Remove the lid to serve.
