Bible Devotional Ideas For Women

Many great women are exalted in the Holy Bible.

Women can receive solace, direction and reassurance from many chapters in the Bible. They can obtain the greatest inspiration from reading about the challenges and victories in the lives of women of the time. Biblical women experienced a lot of the same anxieties, faults and troubles of modern women. Devotional readings impart the word of God and strengthen wavering faith.

Judges 4-5

Judges chapters 4-5 in the Bible is a thoughtful devotional for the woman who feels weak and non-influential in her own life and the lives around her. The chapters tell the tale of the Israelites while they were under subjugation from Sisera, king of the Caananites. At the time, a devout woman named Deborah was a judge among the Israelites and God revealed to her that He would deliver the huge Caananite army into their hands. Her character was so strong that the head of the Israelite army, Barak, requested her presence when going into battle. Although they won a great battle, because of Barak's doubt, the ultimate victory was given to someone else. A believing woman named Jael subsequently murdered the Canannite king, freeing the Israelites for 40 years.

Esther 1-2

Women and girls sometimes worry privately about their looks. The materialism of modern life has many women under the belief that their worth is tied to their appearance. The opening chapters of Esther, queen of the Israelites, unfold by telling readers how one of the most beautiful women in history, Queen Vashti, was dethroned for disobedience to the king. This story can help female readers reflect on the short-lived value of outward beauty. Deeper reflection can encourage women to think about their inner beauty and how they are viewed in the eyes of God.

Hebrews 11:11

When met by life's challenges, it's easy for God's believers to waver in faith. When your faith is tested, lookk to Hebrews 11:11. This passage makes for a pensive devotional reading. The Scripture speaks about the wife of Abraham, Sarah, who gave birth at the age of 90 after God told her that she would conceive one day. Although conception seemed impossible, and Sarah had already allowed her husband to bear a son by her servant, she still believed in God's word. The Scripture explains that her faith made the word of God come to pass.

Genesis 19:26

Juggling the responsibilities of home, work and dependents is the lifestyle of many modern-day women. Devoting attention to worldly duties and not spending enough time in prayer can create a spiritual divide in your personal life. The story of Lot's wife offers an earnest reflection of the importance of maintaining fellowship with God. Genesis 19:26 explains that she turned into a pillar of salt when she disobeyed God and looked back while fleeing the land of Sodom. Her fate reflects the consequence of relying on earthly wealth and human companionship in opposition to the wishes of God.
