Grill Hamburgers In The Oven

Grill Hamburgers in the Oven

If it's too cold to grill or you don't have a grill, you can still enjoy the taste of juicy grilled burgers made at home in your oven. These hamburgers are packed with flavor, juice, and you can even add a hint of mesquite smoke flavor. Follow the steps below to turn your broiler plate into a smoking grill. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350. In the bottom of the broiler pan, place 2-3 mesquite chips that have been thoroughly soaked in water. Dry chips might burn to quickly in the oven.

2. Combine one pound of fresh ground beef with a tablespoon of spice, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and one table spoon barbecue sauce. When you form patties, pack them loosely so that the burgers are juicy in the middle and crispy on the outside. You might want to poke a hole in the middle to keep them from puffing up too much.

3. Place the hamburger patties on the top part of the broiler plate so that the mesquite chips are below. As the burgers cook, they will absorb the aroma of the mesquite chips. Just like they would on the grill.

4. Cook for 30 minutes or until they are done to your liking.

5. If at any point you think the oven is getting too smoky, take the chips out. It's unlikely that they will burn, but if they do, use few chips next time, or use wetter chips.
