Homemade Borax Ant Killer

Instead of purchasing a commercial product, kill ants with borax.

Once you notice an infestation of ants, they may have already damaged areas in and around your home. You can set out a homemade borax ant killer to destroy the pests, which will locate borax by smell and return it to the nest. The ants perceive the borax as food. Commercial ant killer products often cost a lot of money, especially when you need to treat many areas around your home. You can save money by making your own bait with borax. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Kill Indoor Ants

1. Fill soda bottle caps halfway full with borax.

2. Place the filled caps where the ants are. If you are not sure about the exact location, you can place them around your home in areas like the kitchen, laundry room and bathroom.

3. Refill the borax ant baits periodically. The ants will carry the borax away; you will need to add more so that they continue to feed on it.

Kill Outdoor Ants

4. Combine ¼ cup of honey and ¼ cup of sugar in a Mason jar.

5. Place the jar in the microwave and set it on high for 1 minute. Stir the mixture, then microwave it again until the sugar dissolves.

6. Pour in ¼ cup of borax. Stir the borax into the mixture and allow it to cool until it reaches room temperature.

7. Add 1 tbsp. of the bait to an ant mound or nest. The sugar and honey will attract the ants, and the borax will inevitably kill them.

8. Place a lid securely on the jar. Store it for 2 to 3 weeks at room temperature.
