Himalayan Pink Salt Cleansing Procedures

Himalayan pink salt is a mineral-rich alternative to regular table and kosher salts. Mined by hand in the mountain foothills of Tibet, it can serve as both a novel cooking spice and an all-purpose cleansing agent. A writer at Mountain Rose Herbs claims it can also relax muscles and lower high blood pressure. Does this Spark an idea?

Make and Use a Medicinal Salt Brine

Pour a teaspoon of salt into a glass of water. The glass should be able to hold at least one cup of liquid. Stir the mixture until salt is no longer visible.

If you have trouble dissolving larger crystals, crush them with the end of your spoon. You may find they break up more readily in warm water.

Drink in the morning immediately after you wake up. Salt brine is most effective on an empty stomach, so you should drink it before you have breakfast.

Take a Salt Bath

Fill your bathtub with warm water. The ideal warmth is around 97 degrees, which closely resembles average body temperature. Measure the water with your thermometer and add hot water as needed.

Add one to two pounds of salt to the bathwater. According to Natural Beauty Workshop, you should use a large-grained salt for baths and steam treatments. Stir with your hand until the salt is mostly dissolved.

Now soak in the bath for twenty to thirty minutes. This will strengthen your immune system and help treat arthritis, rheumatism and psoriasis.

Use Salt in a Steam Bath

Fill a small saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Remove saucepan from heat and pour hot water into a large plastic bowl. Add 4 tbsp. of salt; stir vigorously until salt dissolves.

To use the steam bath, lower your nose and mouth a few inches above the water. Wrap the towel over the back of your head and cover the bowl. Inhale the steam for 10 to 15 minutes to relieve congestion and soothe a sore throat.
