Incorporate cows into fun farm games for kids.
Whether you are planning a farm-themed birthday party for a child or teaching your students about farm life, incorporate a few farm games for the children to play. Farm games will teach the kids about farm life and the different animals found on a farm. With a few inexpensive supplies and a creative imagination, you can create farm games that help children understand all aspects of a farm.
Chicken Hop
Place five sticks (about one foot in length) on the ground about one foot apart from one another. The kids have to hop on one foot over each stick. After they hop over the fifth stick, they must reach down and pick it up. Then hop back over all the other sticks. Start again and this time they must pick up the fourth stick. Each time they will pick up the last stick. If a child can make it by picking up all the sticks while hopping on one foot, he earns a prize. If both feet touch the ground or his hands touch the ground at any time, he is out of the game. To make the game more difficult, use 10 sticks instead of five.
Find the Barn Animals
Hide several plastic barn animal toys, such as pigs, cows, chickens, dogs, horses and ducks. Tell the children they must find one of each farm animal to win the game. Make sure the children know which animals they are looking for, so they know exactly what animals they need to win the game.
Pig and Cow Roundup
Draw black cow markings on white balloons and draw a pig face on pink balloons using a permanent marker. Give a cow and pig balloon to each child along with a broom. Mark a starting line and a finish line about 25 feet apart. When you say, "Go," the children must use the broom to "roundup" the pig and cow across the finish line. The first child to get both balloons across the finish line wins the game. You can also play this game as a relay race by dividing the players into two teams. Give each team a set of balloons and a broom. The first team to complete the relay wins the game.
Snorting Contest
Host a pig-snorting contest to see which one of the children have the best pig snort. Give the children five minutes to practice their snorts. After five minutes, have each child give her best impression of a pig snort. Award prizes to the best, funniest, scariest and silliest pig snort.
