Jasmine Rice Nutrition

Jasmine rice is native to Thailand, though it is now enjoyed around the world. It has a naturally sweet aroma and a delicate taste. It is a long-grain variety of rice, which cooks to a fluffy consistency. It is widely available at both Asian and large chain grocery stores. Add this to my Recipe Box.


Calories


One cup (200 g) of cooked jasmine rice has 205 calories. The daily calorie requirements of an adult male are approximately 2,500 per day, a female requires1,800.


Protein


In one cup of jasmine rice, there are 4.2 g of protein, about 9 percent of daily value. Between 10 to 30 percent of a daily diet should be comprised of proteins.


Carbohydrates


You'll find 44.5 g of carbohydrates, 18 percent of the daily value, in one cup of cooked jasmine rice. Carbohydrates provide energy to the body in the form of glucose.


Fiber


There is 0.63 g of fiber in a cup of cooked rice, only a small amount of the daily requirement. Fiber is necessary for regularity of stools, overall colon health and lowering cholesterol.


Niacin


A cup of jasmine rice contains 2.3 mg of niacin, about 20 percent of the daily requirement for an adult. Niacin is involved in the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose.


Iron


Iron is an essential nutrient used in the production of red blood cells. An adult male requires 10 mg, an adult female needs 15 mg per day. A cup of jasmine rice contains 1.9 mg of iron.
