Handmade Organic Rose Soap

Rose soap is soothing to the skin.

Rose oil is soothing and highly hydrating to the skin. When added to handmade soaps, rose oil and rose essential oil will turn ordinary soap into a moisturizing bath bar that can be used safely on even the most sensitive skin types. It is important to only use organic rose oil and rose essential oil, which will be grown without the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides that can be damaging to the skin and body systems.

Instructions

1. Pour 16 oz. of organic coconut oil, 16 oz. of organic rose hip oil, and 16 oz. of organic olive oil into the top part of a double boiler. Fill the bottom part of the double boiler halfway up with water. Heat the entire unit over medium heat. To check the temperature of the oils, place a glass candy thermometer into the oils. Do not let the temperature raise higher than 110 degrees F.

2. Make sure the oils and lye are at the right temperature before combining them.

Put on protective goggles and rubber gloves. Pour 16 oz. of distilled water into a glass beaker, and carefully pour in 7 oz. of lye. The lye will react with the water and will create heat. To measure the temperature of the lye water, place an additional glass candy thermometer into the solution. Once the lye water reaches 110 degrees F, carefully pour it into the oils.

3. Pour 1 Tbsp. of organic rose essential oil into the mixture. Stir the soap mixture vigorously with a wooden spoon until it thickens to a pudding-like consistency. This may take up to 30 minutes.

4. Pour the rose soap mixture into pre-made soap molds. Place the molds into a dark room and allow them to remain there for at least eight weeks. After eight weeks, pop the organic rose soaps out of the molds.
