Freeze Homemade Yeast Bread

Store freshly baked bread in the freezer as soon as it cools to retain its flavor.

There's nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread in your kitchen. Baking bread at home is fairly simple if you have a bread maker and some yeast. If you find yourself using your bread maker a little too often and have too many bread loaves on hand, freeze the freshly made bread to be consumed later. If you prefer, slice the bread before freezing it -- when you want only a few slices of a particular loaf, you don't have to thaw out the whole thing. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Allow the bread to cool completely if it is fresh out of the oven or bread maker.

2. Place the bread in a plastic bag, and squeeze out the excess air. Wrap the bagged loaf in heavy-duty aluminum foil to help keep out the air.

3. Place the aluminum-wrapped bread in a plastic zipper bag for extra protection. The more layers of wrap around the bread, the longer it will last in your freezer and still taste fresh. Label the bag with the type of bread and the date. Properly wrapped bread can last in the freezer for three to four months.
